SoCo (South Coast Artists) Equal Opportunities Statement  
   

Statement of Intent

SoCo is opposed to discrimination on grounds of any sort, be it race, gender, sex, age, religion or politics, or concerning mental or physical health and recognises that discriminatory practices exist. It will take steps to eliminate these and bring awareness of this issue through our work wherever possible.

Objectives

a. SoCo will endeavour to provide members with equal opportunity to support the aims of the Organization and become part of the management structure.

b. SoCo will endeavour to provide members with equal opportunity to make/submit work for selection in SoCo curated exhibitions, participate in SoCo workshops / projects,

c. SoCo will endeavour to encourage work which is inclusive of all issues.

Implementation

a. SoCo will communicate information to members regarding forthcoming projects/ workshops and exhibitions. Members will be encouraged to participate in the management of the organization.

b. All artists, volunteers and participants to be made aware of their responsibility towards the implementation of the equal opportunities policy. A copy of this Equal Opportunities Statement will be made available.

c. There is a complaints procedure. Any member of the organization or participant in our activities, who feels they have received unfair treatment may make a written complaint to the Chairman. Their complaint will be heard by the Executive Committee.

d. If anyone is found to be in breach of the policy, they will be asked for an explanation, and in the case of an unsatisfactory explanation or any repeated breach of the policy the Executive Committee may ask the individual(s) concerned to leave the organization.

Monitoring

The Executive Committee will continue to reassess the Equal Opportunities procedures and policy and action will be taken where necessary to implement improvements.
