SoCo Membership Application Guidance

Thank you for your enquiry regarding membership of SoCo (South Coast Artists)

SoCo is an artist led project which aims to develop a challenging programme of exhibitions, talks, seminars and workshops.
We are committed to creating opportunities for artists and establishing a professionally-run, high quality project.
We are a not-for-profit organisation, and currently much of our work is done on a voluntary basis.
As such, members will be encouraged to support the project as much as possible. (See details below)

Membership is available by application only.
The current annual subscription is £15 for members who wish to make a commitment to assisting in SoCo's work,
or £25 for those who wish to support the project but are unable to commit their time .
Members will normally be artists who live and/or work in the Hastings area.
Members should be committed arts practitioners, whose work is of a high quality.
Applicants are required to submit their CV and 6 photographs of recent work for consideration by the SoCo committee.
Membership does not guarantee exhibition of work, but will entitle you to submit work for selection in SoCo exhibitions.

It is a condition of exhibition that participating artists are prepared to invigilate for at least one full day (or equivalent)

Any proposals for group exhibitions must be submitted to the SoCo committee.
Selection and hanging of work will always be the sole responsibility of the assigned SoCo committee, or their appointed curators.

Members will be placed on our mailing list, kept informed of SoCo exhibitions and events, and will be able to attend annual general meetings and vote to elect committee members.
